WestfjordsWestfjords Driving Guide for the Eclipse
Látrabjarg has the best viewing — but the roads are challenging. Here's what to expect.
SnæfellsnesSnæfellsnes Peninsula Eclipse Guide
The easier alternative to Westfjords — also in the path of totality with better roads.
Best Viewing Locations
Westfjords (Látrabjarg) — Best Totality
Longest totality duration, but remote with challenging roads. 4x4 required. Authorities may restrict private vehicle access and run buses instead.
Snæfellsnes Peninsula — Best Balance
In the path of totality with much better road access. Our recommended option for most visitors. Somewhat better weather odds than Westfjords.
Reykjanes Peninsula
Close to Reykjavík and KEF airport. Easy driving. Shorter totality but possibly the best weather odds.
Reykjavík
Partial eclipse from the city itself. Totality path passes just to the west. No driving needed but not the full experience.
